About Esther Garcia, LPC
Teletherapy-Women in Michigan
Hi! I’m Esther Garcia, LPC.
Pronouns: she/her
I’m passionate about empowering women who are feeling stuck in their current circumstances find more balance in their life and embrace who they are and where they’re headed.
In particular, I have a special heart for Women who are recovering from heartbreak from an end of a relationship or the heartbreak of continuing to stay in an unhealthy relationship, Women feeling overwhelmed in navigating the intersection of being a caregiver/partner/professional, and Women who want to build healthy and meaningful relationships. I also really enjoy providing therapy for fellow therapists.
How my passion developed
Due to the loss of my father at an early age, I was raised by a single mother who never chose to date and dating is not something a mother of Mexican decent spoke about as though not to “plant” ideas, I didn’t know much about the complexities of romantic relationships and especially what healthy and meaningful relationship might look like and I experienced my first heartbreak as a young adult and I was never truly the same after.
The experience of heartbreak was extremely mentally, emotionally, and physically painful and I just wanted to feel “normal” again.
As a result, I went through a process of asking questions about the meaning of love and loss and if “love” truly was real. I began to study love and if healing and forgiveness were possible.
I needed to make sense of the pain that I thought was getting better year after year but needed to turn inwards to understand how/why I continued to choose unhealthy relationships, and more so how I could move forward not the same as before but as a woman who could heal and look forward to tomorrow.
In retrospect, I realize that by allowing myself to ask questions about what love means to me, my perspective on love and relationships really has become my own.
Deconstructing my values on love and relationships has turned out to be an essential and healthy part of my development. And it enabled me to develop a sense of compassion towards women who feel broken inside by heartbreak and want to feel whole again.
How I live out my passion as a therapist
I find a sense of fulfillment in walking alongside others as they embark on a journey to make sense of their unresolved pain. Grief shows up differently for everyone, but I appreciate the opportunity to walk alongside my client’s as they do the hard work of picking up the broken pieces and starting the journey of building something new but still yet unknown, as they begin to look forward to what has yet to come.
I want women to know that there is no shame in experiencing heartbreak, and you can heal and give yourself the time to do the hard work of creating the meaningful relationships that you have always wanted.
The process of healing a broken heart is necessary and it will enable you to love yourself like never before and embrace the love you deserve!
How I help others
As women we are tasked with being the caregivers/nurtures/partners and are constantly having to adjust to challenging circumstances. But we often carry a sense of shame when we experience falling short of expectations and experiencing that we are somehow failing our loved ones and feel an even deeper impact when we are experiencing heartbreak and trying to fulfill all these roles.
I want to help shift women’s perspectives to see that caring for their own needs first is not only beneficial but essential to becoming the best caregiver/partner/version of themselves to continue to live with love, meaning, and intention.
